According to the recommendations of the ADA, HbA1c values above 6.5 %HbA1c (48 mmol/mol) are suitable for the diagnosis of diabetes mellitus. Patients with HbA1c values in the range of 5.7 - 6.4 %HbA1c(39 - 46 mmol/mol) may be at a risk of developing diabetes.
